Tamron’s 70-180mm f/2.8 G2 Lens For Nikon

credits: Tamron

Tamron is bringing its updated 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 lens to the Nikon Z mount, rounding out the company’s f/2.8 “G2 Trinity” for Nikon users. The lens first launched for Sony E-mount in late 2023 and now makes its way to Nikon shooters with the same set of upgrades, including built-in image stabilisation and a reworked optical design. Despite adding Tamron’s Vibration Compensation (VC) system, the lens stays relatively light at 855 grams and measures 156.5mm long.

Inside, the G2 version uses 20 elements in 15 groups, including a mix of XLD, LD, hybrid aspherical, and GM (glass-molded aspherical) elements to reduce chromatic aberration and boost sharpness. The lens also features BBAR-G2 coating to cut down flare and ghosting in tough lighting. Autofocus is handled by the same VXD linear motor system as before, but Tamron says tracking is faster and more consistent this time around.

The lens is weather-sealed, supports Tamron Lens Utility customisation, and uses 67mm filters. With this release, Tamron’s G2 “trinity” for Nikon Z, the 16-30mm f/2.8, 28-75mm f/2.8, and now 70-180mm f/2.8, is now complete. The new 70-180mm G2 hits stores later this October for $1,149 in the U.S. (or 1,099 € in Europe).

The Latest Fujifilm Rumours

credits: Fujifilm

It looks like Fujifilm is preparing to unveil the X-T30 III later this month, likely on October 23rd, alongside a new XC 13-33mm f/3.5-6.3 kit lens. The new camera doesn’t appear to be a full redesign, but it does bring some welcome upgrades to Fujifilm’s popular compact mirrorless line.

The X-T30 III is expected to feature a 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor paired with the newer X-Processor 5, the same chip found in Fujifilm’s higher-end models. That combo should mean better autofocus performance, improved tracking, and faster overall operation compared to the X-T30 II. The camera will offer an ISO range of 160–12800 (expandable to 80–51200), 4K video up to 30p, and Full HD up to 120p. There is still no in-body stabilisation, but it retains the familiar 3.0-inch tilting touchscreen and 2.36M-dot OLED viewfinder. The body weighs about 383 grams with battery and card.

Other details include a single UHS-I SD card slot, USB-C, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth for easy connectivity. Fujifilm’s bigger updates are expected to arrive in 2026 when the X-T6, X-Pro4, and X-H3 are rumoured to make their debut.
