Fujifilm’s Rumoured X-Half Camera

rumoured mockup

Fujifilm is rumoured to be dropping a new compact camera called the Fujifilm X-Half, and it looks like a throwback to classic film cameras but with all the perks of modern tech. It’s got a 1-inch Sony sensor, a fixed f/2.4 lens, and a vertical LCD screen, which makes it a perfect fit for social media creators. The lens should give you around a 14–25mm focal range with a 2x crop factor, and you’ll be able to control the aperture manually with a ring on the lens.

This camera is small, coming in at 105.8mm by 64.3mm, and it packs a hot shoe, a built-in flash, and a dial for exposure compensation up top. Fujifilm is clearly going for something simple and fun with this one—no complicated settings, just easy shooting.

It’s expected to be a hit with creators and travelers who want something lightweight yet powerful, and you’ll likely see it on the market in summer 2025, priced around $700–800.

Nikon’s NX Field App Is Now Free For The Z9

credits: Nikon

Nikon just dropped firmware version 5.20 for the Z9, and while the update itself isn’t huge, it comes with a big perk: NX Field support is now completely free for Z9 users. If you’re not familiar, NX Field is Nikon’s remote shooting system designed for photojournalists and sports shooters—it lets you sync up multiple cameras, control them remotely, and send files directly to an FTP server.

NX Field has been around since 2021, originally made for the Nikon D5 and D6 DSLRs, and later added to Nikon’s mirrorless lineup, including the Z9. But until now, using it on the Z9 meant sending your camera in for a service install and paying up to $250 depending on the model. Now? No more shipping or extra cost. The new firmware builds NX Field right into the Z9’s standard software—just update your camera and you’re good to go.

Nikon hasn’t said whether they will make NX Field free for other mirrorless cameras like the Z8 or Z6 III, but there’s hoping. The more accessible this kind of pro-level tool becomes, the better for everyone.
