Nikon’s First-Ever Full-Frame Video Lens

cc: Nikon

Nikon just announced they are working on the Nikkor Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, their first full-frame lens designed specifically for video. This marks a new chapter for Nikon, following its shift toward video with the Z9 and the recent acquisition of RED Cinema.

While Nikon did dabble in cinema lenses ages ago with obscure C-mount lenses, those were rare. The new 28-135mm f/4 PZ is their first modern, video-focused lens. It features "power zoom" (PZ) for smooth zooming with an internal motor controlled by a rocker on the side. This lens is designed for Nikon’s Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras and supports both autofocus and manual focus.

Details like pricing and release date are still under wraps, but Nikon should share more soon. Stay tuned!

Instagram Reduces Video Quality on non Performing Reels ???

Instagram is lowering video quality on posts that don’t get many views, confirmed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. In an ‘‘ask me anything’’ last weekend, Mosseri explained that the platform shows high-quality video for popular posts but drops the quality for videos that aren’t getting much traction. If a video regains popularity later, Instagram will automatically upgrade it to a higher quality.

Mosseri says this is done to ensure viewers see the best quality possible for what’s popular, since most views happen right after posting. A user asked if this hurts smaller creators, making it harder for them to grow. Mosseri responded that content matters more than quality for engagement, adding that creators tend to notice quality dips more than their viewers do.

Instagram is getting stranger day by day.

Apples M4 Mac Mini - Your New Affordable Editing Machine?

cc: Apple

Apple’s Mac mini just got a major update with the new M4 processor and a fresh design that’s even smaller and more powerful. This time around, Apple skipped the M3 chip entirely, jumping straight to the M4 series. The new Mac mini is almost half the size of the previous model, measuring just 5x5 inches (12.7x12.7 cm), though it’s slightly taller at 2 inches (5 cm).

With the M4 series, Apple’s adding serious power. The M4 Pro version features up to 14 CPU cores (10 performance, 4 efficiency) and 20 graphics cores, supporting demanding tasks like video rendering and graphics work. It’s the first Mac to support Thunderbolt 5, providing up to 120 Gb/s data speeds, and also comes with hardware-accelerated ray tracing for smooth visuals.

Apple’s also taking big steps with sustainability: the new Mac mini is Apple’s first carbon-neutral Mac, using over 50% recycled materials and entirely fiber-based packaging. The M4 Mac mini starts at $599 ($499 for education), with the M4 Pro at $1,399 ($1,299 for educators), shipping on November 8.

And seriously.. i’m thinking about getting it hahahah.
